Introduction
Halesi Mahadev in Khotang is popular destination among Hindus, Kirant and Buddhist community. It is one of pilgrimage site of Nepal and thousands of people visit this unique and equally important place annually. Halesi Mahadevsthan lies at a distance of twenty-six kilometers to the west of the district headquarters Diktel Bazaar, Halesi Mahadevsthan is one of the most popular religious destinations in this district. Large number of Hindu devotees throng here. It lies in a cave with two feet tall image of Shiva Linga. There are two pillars to the immediate north of it. Halesi Tour is one of the most popular tour among Nepalese community.
A popular myth is associated with it. It is believed that the sinners cannot pass through the narrow passage of the two pillars except those who confess the sin if they have committed any sinful activity in their lives. Thousands of devotees visit the place with a belief that Lord Shiva bless them with knowledge, wisdom and prosperity.
